Enclosure The 18th Feby 188
For Your Lordship's consideration copy of a minute by Mr Drury respecting question of requiring him to enter into a 3 years agreement in his capacity as Assistant Engineer.
Mr. Drury joined the Public Works Department on the 1st of December, 1887, and although there is no record of the prospects held out to him by Mr Price, I consider that in view of the fact that Mr Drury has served for 3 years to the satisfaction of Government, the imposition of a further term of probationary service is unnecessary.
I have therefore to recommend that Mr. Drury should be regarded as on the permanent establishment of the Public Works Department.
